Giovanna Aguirre Peresson

I am a Chicago-based conceptual artist, originally from Colombia. My painting exploration began on the walls of my Italian grandparents’ home when I was four and I continued painting and making art throughout my life. I attended Los Andes University in Bogotá, Colombia where I earned a BFA in Fine Arts and then a MFA in Sculpture in Buenos Aires, Argentina before relocating to Chicago. The opportunity of living in different countries has influenced my artistic career; it has allowed me to see the world from different perspectives and socioeconomic realities. Complete immersion in various cultures has enriched and developed the concepts on which my artwork is based.
